Accomplishment

A few days ago, I posted about what all I needed to do before the end of the school year. I've actually accomplished all of it! I haven't touched on any of the 'after school is out' list, but that's okay. Everything that had to be accomplished has been marked off the list!

Whoo-hoo!

Zip a dee do dah, Zip a dee ay
My, oh my, summer's comin' our way!
Plenty of sunshine, swimming and play,
Zip a dee do dah, school's out today!

Cute and Logical...definitely don't go together

I wore an absolutely adorable pair of shoes today. Maybe a 4" wedge, but oh so cute!

I fell and twisted my ankle.

It's the same pair I was wearing when I fell over my chair and onto my coffee table a week ago.

Hmm, maybe I shouldn't wear them again. But I probably will.

When...

When all I want to watch is a sappy chick flick...that's probably when I shouldn't.

Oops

I thought I was feeling a little more flush than normal, but just attributed it to being a '3 paycheck month,' shrugged and went on.

Nope. I forgot to pay my car payment this month.

Oops!

Back and Forth

Me: Is there anything else you want to tell me?

Him: You look very nice this evening.

I wasn't fishing for a compliment, but hey...I'll take it! :)

A Countdown and Some Lists

If you're on gmail, then you've seen my status updates regarding the countdown to the end of the school year. There are only 8 days left! Whoo-hooo!

Now those 8 days will be pretty crazy with:
collecting textbooks (and searching for missing ones!)
fishing for library books
grading papers
entering grades
having meetings to discuss summer school and/or retention/promotion status for all students
meetings to discuss professional development for next year
meetings to discuss parent complaints/concerns
meetings to pass off some responsibilities and other meetings to accept some responsibilities
cleaning out files
going through stacks of papers to figure out what can be sent home, thrown away, needs kept
distributing some school supplies
and none of these things touch on disciplining or teaching students! that's all thrown in there too!

Once school is out, I need to:
pack for my cruise
pack to move
write letters to my newly adopted William
call my insurance company to figure out answers to a whole bunch of questions, then pay bills after all those questions have been answered
handle my speeding ticket and defensive driving (bleck)

Wow! Lots to do!

So if you see me at some point in the next four weeks and I look a little frazzled, just know I'm clicking down my list!

(And if you don't see me in the next four weeks, well...now you know why!)

A little grr

I know I am the guiltiest party out there for doing this...but why does everyone feel the need to share their opinion regarding a particular topic? I think that might be one of the hardest things about being in leadership (for me.) The fact that no matter what I do, everyone thinks they can share their opinion...and their opinion is usually disagreeing with something...and no matter how little of a disagreement it is, it just makes me feel like I'm not doing it right.

This is my lesson to myself today. I'm going to try to share my opinion less often.

A thought, followed through

I received a message from someone I have met once.

Hey Alyssa,
I just wanted to say that I thought the prayer you said at the end of Paradigm class yesterday was awesome. I was thinking, gosh, what words do I say for a family and wife going through something like that? I think your prayer spoke volumes and was very sincere and comforting. God Bless!

Signed: Fellow Sister

I was taken aback and incredibly touched by her thoughtfulness. We don't know each other. I think we've exchanged hellos a few times. She searched me out and found me, because she wanted to encourage me. Isn't that what being a Christian is all about?
